Frequently Asked Questions From Readers
Did you or someone in your family serve in the US Army?
I did not serve in the military. However, my father, my grandfather, numerous uncles, cousins, etc. have served in various branches of the US Armed Forces. My six-times great grandfather, Edmund Etchison, even served with the North Carolina militia during The Revolutionary War. None, however, served with the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Well then, why did you choose the Rangers?
I first heard of the 75th Ranger Regiment in 1993 during the Battle of Mogadishu, which was later featured in the movie Black Hawk Down. And then I heared of them again when Pat Tillman of the Arizona Cardinals turned down a multi-million dollar football contract to join the Rangers.
In 2012, I began working on the American Valor series, which started with the idea of a doctor who had recently resigned his military commission and was trying to find his way in the civilian world. When it came time to choose his unit, I began researching the 75th Regiment and soon became fascinated by their history and the American Valor series was born.

Why are the books dated?
Each book in the series is dated because each hero's story is very much tied to 9/11. Some enlisted as a result, some had already enlisted prior to that day. I believe enlisting in our volunteer military during active times of war speaks to a person's character and their level of commitment to their country and brothers-in-arms.
Will _____ get his own book?
FROM THE START, book three in the series, will feature Michael MacGregor. While the contract is currently for three books, there are plans for three more to finish out the series. These would include stories for J.T. Anthony (book four), Calder "Bull" Magnusson (book five) and Jeff "Gibby" Gibson (book six).
Can they be read out of order?
Yes and no. While the romantic story in each book stands alone, there are secondary storylines that play out in subsequent books. For example, events that occur in book one, effect the main character in book three. The same goes for events that occur in book two.
